Our school is built on love, calm and clarity. This means we are kind, steady and clear about what helps children feel safe and learn well. We believe that everyone can learn and grow, even when it feels hard.
We understand that behaviour is a way of telling us how someone feels. When children are upset or struggling, we help them, we don’t punish them. We teach children how to manage feelings, make good choices and repair mistakes. We celebrate effort and progress, not being perfect.
Children’s voices are very important at Luminous Oak. Our name was chosen by pupils, and children help shape our school every day. We listen to what children think and feel, and we show them that their ideas matter.
Our learning is exciting, ambitious and supportive. Reading is very important, because it helps children understand the world and have more choices. We also learn maths, English, life skills and practical skills that help children prepare for the future.
Learning doesn’t just happen in classrooms. We use outdoor learning, trips and real experiences to help children feel proud, confident and successful. We help children discover what they are good at and what they enjoy.
We know that children do best when families are supported too. When families feel stronger, children feel stronger too.
Our staff are very important. We look after each other so that we can look after our pupils. Staff are supported with training, coaching and time to talk. When adults feel calm and supported, children do too.
Luminous Oak Academy is a community. We work together. We are kind to one another. We take responsibility for ourselves and help each other when things are hard.
Like an oak tree, we are growing something that will last.

Luminous Oak Academy is a place where every child belongs, feels safe, and can flourish.
Our vision is that all pupils at Luminous Oak Academy will:
- Have ambitious plans for their future, with skills, accreditations, and confidence to realise them.
- Gain independent thinking and learning skills which are transferable to adult life.
- Have positive attitudes to learning and life and motivated to continue learning when they leave school.
- Achieve relevant/useful qualifications to move onto the next stage of their education.
